about

J. Rawls returns to the scene with the much-awaited jazzy blended instrumental album “The Liquid Crystal Project 3"! Rawls coined the term "JAZZ HOP" to describe the groups' hip-hop/jazz hybrid sound.

With his first two totally instrumental efforts, “J. Rawls Presents the Liquid Crystal Project” and "J. Rawls Presents the Liquid Crystal Project II", Rawls explored sounds, beats and rhythms that were only touched on in previous albums. The first sought after album included the pulsating “Heart Throb” and three tributes including “A Tribute to Dilla”, where Rawls and the band were able to express their gratitude for one of music’s most prolific producers of our generation. The second installment included the fan favorite "A Tribute to the Beatnuts" and the electric "Digital Funky".

What's new from the third installment of The Liquid Crystal Project? "More tributes and good music!", exclaims J Rawls. "This time we will expand our sound using more musical interpretation and vibrant sounds."

The Liquid Crystal Project pays tribute to the Native Tongues on LCP 3 with tributes for De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest. The first teaser single from The “LIQUID CRYSTAL PROJECT 3”, titled "A Tribute to De La", is out NOW! LCP is back with their classic tributes to one of Hip-Hop's most seminal groups. According to Posdnous of De La Soul, "LCP sounds good!" The second single will be "A Tribute to Tribe". LCP tributes the "smooth like butter" classic Tribe song!

The Liquid Crystal Project 3 features guest performer, renowned trumpet player, PHAREZ WHITTED. Pharez is regarded as one of the most highly talented jazz trumpet players of our time, having played alongside musicians such as Wynton & Branford Marsalis, George Duke, and Ramsey Lewis. He is currently the director of Jazz Studies at Chicago State University.
